Installation of the New Provincial Superior and Team of the Indian Province

January 6, 2024

The installation of the Provincial Superior for the Indian Province and her councillors at Archana Convent Keezhmad on January 6, 2024, marked a significant and auspicious day in the history of the Indian Province of the Teaching Sisters of St. Dorothy, Daughters of the Sacred Hearts. The event commenced with a symbolic Morning Prayer service, followed by a solemn Eucharistic celebration at 11 a.m., presided over by Don Bosco Rector, Rev. Fr. Joy Kaipananickal, and concelebrated by Keezhmad Sacred Heart Church Vicar, Rev. Fr. Varghese Koottungal.

The ceremony began with a procession, each team member carrying meaningful symbols reflecting their entrusted responsibilities. The homily, connected to the feast of Denaha in the Syro-Malabar Church, drew parallels between John the Baptist's mission and the new leadership team under Rev. Sr. Shiny Muttathottil. It emphasised the team's responsibility to prepare the way for the Lord in the hearts of the sisters and the people they serve. The speaker highlighted the importance of compassion, listening with the “ear of the heart”, and relying on God's providence. The challenges of leadership were acknowledged, likened to a way of the cross and encouragement was given to persevere in doing good despite potential criticism.

The day featured felicitations, a cake-cutting ceremony, and a sumptuous meal. A colourful felicitation programme followed, during which Rev. Sr. Shiny Muttathottil, the new provincial, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing provincial, Rev. Sr. Biji Mulackal, and her team for their sincere and selfless services. Seeking prayers and collaboration from the sisters as she embarked on her new spiritual mission, she cited Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” highlighting the significance of faith and heavenly assistance in her new mission.

The day concluded with immense joy and thanksgiving, anchored in the wisdom and strength derived from faith. The installation ceremony not only marked a change in leadership but also symbolised continuity in the mission of the Teaching Sisters of St. Dorothy, inspiring the community to move forward with faith and dedication under the guidance of the new provincial and her team.
